Rashmi Devi Sawhney
Academic, Writer and Associate Arts Professor of Film and New Media at New York University, Abu Dhabi
Rashmi Devi Sawhney is Associate Arts Professor of Film and New Media at New York University, Abu Dhabi. Her work is based in interdisciplinary approaches to cinema, media, visual arts and cultural practices. She has previously taught at the School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi; Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland; and the Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bangalore. She is co-founder of VisionMix (www.visionmix.info), an international platform for artists, filmmakers, and researchers. Exhibitions curated include ‘Video Vortex XI’ (with Geert Lovink, Ahmet Gurata & Andreas Treske) held at the Mill Hall, Kochi (Feb 2017), ‘SET.RESET’ in collaboration with Aradhana Seth’s House of Inquiry, Goa (Sept 2018) and ‘Loss and Transience’ with Lucia Imaz King at the Hong-Gah Museum, Taipei (Mar-May 2021). Her video installation ‘Drift City’ (2 channels, 58 mins) was shown as part of Shayad Shehri Hai/Could Be Urbanism, curated by architect Naveen Mahantesh at KHOJ in Dec 2019.
