JK Paper Award for the Arts: Propositions in Paper

Created with the intention of appreciating paper as an enduring technology and medium of expression, in partnership with JK Paper. The winner and three shortlisted finalists receive a residency and present an exhibition later in the year.

About the Award

The award invites artists working with paper across drawing, printmaking, collage, book arts and beyond to develop ambitious new bodies of work. The award winner receives a monetary prize and a residency, and presents new work in an exhibition. Three shortlisted finalists each receive a residency and participate in a group exhibition.

Winner receives INR 1,50,000, a solo residency and a solo exhibition.

Honourable mentions receive recognition, a group residency and group exhibition.

The 2027 edition continues the award into its 4th year.

Sudeshna Nandi used paper pulp as a medium to speak to notions of fragility and resilience of women.

The third edition of the JK Paper Award for the Arts is currently underway. The winner and three honourable mentions are completing their residencies, developing new bodies of work that will be presented in an exhibition later this year.
