Abeer Gupta

Director of Achi Association India and Former Visual Arts Curator at Arthshila

Abeer is the director of Achi Association India and the former Visual Arts Curator at Arthshila. His curatorial practice is positioned around ideas of making and representation at the intersection of conservation, ecology and art-design-architecture. His research focuses on the western Himalayas, particularly in Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir, where he explores oral histories, material cultures, and visual archives. His academic expertise extends to teaching roles at institutions such as the National Institute of Design, Ambedkar University Delhi, and JNU. Trained as a filmmaker, his work spans curating art, education, and community media projects, as well as several documentary films and video installations. He has recently set up Palay House in Phey, Ladakh (2022) which received a Silver Medal at the 9th edition of the Domus International Prize for Architectural Restoration.
