Andrea Thal

Andrea Thal is a curator, writer and publisher and works in different formal and in-formal art education contexts. In recent texts and curatorial work she engages with the potential of artistic and curatorial practices to activate submerged and erased narratives. From 2014 to 2023, she was the Artistic Director of Contemporary Image Collective – CIC, a Cairo based cultural organisation with a special interest in the overlap of visual culture, artistic practice and critical discourse. Together with Samah Gafar they work on The Light of Distant Stars, a long-term project and publication that traces the history of African liberation movements and international solidarity networks in Cairo in the 1950s and 1960s. Since 2015 she has been a member of the Cairo Working Group of Another Roadmap Africa Cluster (ARAC).
